TORRENT  激流　シリーズ

 

 

　命は、何かの形態をかりることで地球に存在できています。人をモチーフにしたのは、自分にとって一番身近な『生命』だったからです。生命はまるで激流にのまれながら流れていく。日本では『開眼』という言葉があります。『だるま』は祈願をする際に、片目を入れて『開眼』させる習わしです。左目（向かって右）より目を入れ、願い事が成就したら右目（向かって左）に描き入れる。目の入れ方は密教の『阿吽』からきているといわれています。「阿」はすべての始まり、「吽」は終わりを示しています。左目から入れるというのは陰陽五行からきています。陰陽五行では東より物事が生まれ、西でなくなるといわれております。願い事が成就したことで、未来へ希望をもって進んでいくという思いが込められています。

 

　未来は見えません。でも激流のような未来へ進んでいくのは「生命」自信です。私の作品で右目が描かれていないのは、見る人自身が未来を見るためという思いからです。

 

 この作品は日本画を基軸に、型を用いて麻紙に岩絵具で彩色しています。生命の激流の表現を強調するために自分の筆跡などの痕跡をなくすことで、無機質な画面を作りました。

TORRENT series

Life could exist on the Earth by borrowing some forms. 

　My painting is an expression of the transience of life. According how I live, Life-style and circumstances, as well as my perception of the world, change. My motive is women because it is the closest life for me. Life is swallowed up in torrent. So I would like to paint a pictorial representation of existence by painting the flow of life.

   In Japan, We have a word, “KAIGEN(open eye).” When we make new Buddha statue, we hold a ceremony to draw eye to invest with soul in order to consecrate.

   This is “KAIGEN.” Drawing eye for Dharma doll is a common custom when ordinary people pray. First, we paint eye on the left (on the right as you face it). After our pray is answered, we paint eye on the right (on the left as you face it).  This custom is from Esoteric Buddhism, “AUN(阿吽).” “A(阿)” is the beginning of all, and ”UN(吽)” is the end of the life.　“AUN(阿吽)”　expresses all the universe. Painting eye on the left first is derived from “INYOU GOGYOU (陰陽五行).” INYOU is the principle of Yin and Yang, positive and negative, sun and moon, light and shade, male and female etc.  GOGYOU means five elements.  In INYOU GOGYOU principle, things come from east and end at west. We could be going toward the future with hope because our pray is answered. 

　We can’t see our future. But it is life that goes to the future, which itself is like torrent. I didn’t draw the right eye because I hope you yourself could find your future.
